Empowering Girls Through Menstrual Hygiene: Erudite Women’s Empowerment Foundation Launches Pad Bank Initiative

The Erudite Women’s Empowerment Foundation (EWEF) has taken a significant step towards promoting menstrual health and hygiene among school girls in Konongo. As part of the Project iMenstruate: Pad Bank Initiative, EWEF launched a sanitary pad bank at Konongo Ancilla Junior High School on Friday, 10th October 2025, providing girls with access to essential menstrual hygiene products.

A Step Towards Menstrual Equality

The initiative aims to bridge the gap in menstrual health management by providing girls with access to sanitary products, hygiene education, and a supportive environment. According to Ms. Ohenewaa Constance Ankoma, Executive Director of EWEF, “Menstrual health should never be a barrier to education or self-confidence.” The Pad Bank initiative seeks to create a comfortable and confident learning environment for girls, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Key Outcomes

56 participants attended the launch event, including girls and boys from Konongo Ancilla JHS, teachers, and local stakeholders.

One Pad Bank was established at Konongo Ancilla JHS, stocked with disposable and reusable sanitary pads, sanitizer, handwash, and tissue paper.

Improved knowledge and openness in addressing menstrual health issues among teachers and students.

Reduced stigma and misconceptions surrounding menstruation.

Stronger community partnership between EWEF, the school, and local stakeholders.

A Call to Action

The launch of the Pad Bank initiative is a significant milestone in promoting menstrual health and hygiene among school girls. However, sustaining this initiative requires collective effort. EWEF urges community stakeholders, parents, and guardians to support the Pad Bank initiative by donating sanitary products and promoting menstrual hygiene awareness.

Empowering Girls, Empowering Communities

By providing girls with access to menstrual hygiene products and education, we can empower them to take control of their health, education, and future. The Project iMenstruate: Pad Bank Initiative is a step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for girls, enabling them to reach their full potential. As Ms. Ankoma emphasized, “Girls inspire girls: Girls aspire to be” Let’s work together to create a brighter future for our girls.
