GIRLS IDENTITY SUMMIT  5th ANNIVERSARY: Empowering Young Girls Through Mentorship and Support

The 2025 Girls’ Identity Summit marked a significant milestone in the journey of empowering young girls, celebrating five years of mentorship, training, and impact under the inspiring theme “Growth by God’s Grace.” The two-day even which took place from 21st to 22nd October,2025  brought together partners, mentors, and beneficiaries from 10 GIS-adopted schools, showcasing the transformative power of collaboration and dedication.

A Celebration of Growth and Empowerment

Over the two-day summit, the team visited 10 schools, interacting with over 700 girls and 10 Girl Child Coordinators. The event featured powerful sessions, including the “I See Me” declarations, which reaffirmed the girls’ self-worth, potential, and identity. The team also distributed specially written letters from friends, families, and loved ones in the USA, filled with words of hope, affirmation, and inspiration.

Key Highlights

Pad Bank Donation: A Pad Bank was donated to Odumasi St. Peter’s Anglican School under EWEF’s Project iMenstruate, aiming to bridge menstrual health and access gaps in schools and communities.

Privacy Tents: 10 privacy pop-up tents were donated to provide safe and private spaces for girls to use as changing rooms, particularly during their menstrual periods.

Recognition and Appreciation: Girl Child Coordinators were recognized for their tireless commitment to supporting girls’ development, and each school received a citation and appreciation package.

The Impact

The summit had a profound impact on the girls, with many expressing excitement and feeling valued and empowered. The event fostered inclusivity by engaging boys in conversations about identity and menstrual health, promoting mutual understanding and respect. The summit also strengthened collaboration between GIS Inc., EWEF Ghana, and participating schools, paving the way for continued growth and empowerment.
